Tigh nighean Bhan, (pron: Tie nee-an Van) 'house of the fair lady', has been the subject of much attention in the media, having been filmed for TV and represented in several newspaper and magazine articles. Restored by a local builder, James MacQueen, this traditional Skye blackhouse is now available as a luxury holiday meeting the most exacting standards in the self catering market.
Inside (unlike the original blackhouses!) are all the conveniences and comforts of the 21st century, yet with an atmosphere retained by the thick walls, Harris tweed drapes and traditional carpentry.
Luxurious linen, towels and bathrobes are provided, and the cottage is equipped in a stylish and appealing way.
Tigh nighean Bhan is situated in the tiny crofting hamlet of Kilmuir, not too far distant from the ferry port of Uig, from where you can sail to the Outer Hebrides. The area is beautiful, from the dramatic mountains to the rocky coastlines and the traditional crofting villages of the north of Skye.
Sunsets viewed from the cottage will leave a lasting memory of your stay at this beautiful thatched cottage.
