This pretty wooden house has been built as a secluded retreat for a peaceful and relaxing holiday experience. Badarroch Retreat offers two timber cottages in its five acres of private woodland and coastline, and Down House is the one set closest to the sea.
The cottage has a wood burning stove and you will arrive to find a basket of logs, with further logs available to purchase. There is also supplementary electric heating; however, as the cottage has been designed to ecological standards with double glazing and good insulation, little extra heating is usually required. Electricity is by meter reading payable at the end of your stay.
There are spectacular views from the grounds over Loch Torridon and Diabaig Bay, and direct access to mountains, moors and sea, including a private cove.
This architect-designed cottage is finished to a high standard, with beautiful timber floors and ceilings and a hand-built kitchen. The sunny decks are great for when it's fine, and the cosy wood burning stove and window seat are ideal for the wintry weather.
Children can enjoy the living willow den and swings, and there are ducks and hens around the grounds.
The bedroom can be made up as either a superking-size bed or twin beds, and there is a sofa bed in the sitting room.
