Kilmorack House dates back to the late 18th century and has retained many of the original features and much of the charm of the era, whilst being comfortably appointed with all modern facilities!
This is a very comfortable family home, providing a great base for exploring the immediate area or further afield. The west coast can be reached within one hour, and the east within 30 minutes, as can other popular scenic destinations, such as Loch Ness, Glen Affric and the city of Inverness.
The house is traditionally furnished with plenty of space to share with friends and family and to relax. The dining room is ideal for formal gatherings, and the cosy kitchen for informal meals and food preparation: these two rooms are linked by a serving hatch that is not only practical but sociable as well. Throughout the house there is a mixture of local artists' work, creating a comfortable yet unique atmosphere and many points of interest.
In the immediate area, there is a selection of art galleries where local and popular artists exhibit, one of the most spectacular being the old church just below Kilmorack House. The local village of Beauly is particularly well serviced with coffee shops, delicatessen, post office, chemist, ironmongers and other practical and unusual shops to browse around.
Outdoor enthusiasts will be spoilt for choice with the selection of walks, cycle routes, lochs and rivers to ensure plenty of activities are planned. The River Beauly flows down through the glen and is close by, and the Conon river is not too far away.
On the doorstep is Glen Affric, a National Nature Reserve, and also Glens Cannich and Strathfarrar - areas of breathtaking beauty they provide access to some of the wilder and more remote areas of Scotland.
Wildlife abounds within the remnants of the ancient Caledonian Pine Forest - red deer, golden eagles, badgers, pine martens, otters and many more. Whether you wish to climb Munros, ramble or cycle on miles of forest track, fish for salmon and trout on river and loch, or simply relax and take in the magical surroundings, it is all available in this most beautiful of Highland glens.
Inverness airport is just a 30-minute drive and Inverness just 15 minutes. Here you will find a vibrant, friendly city offering a wealth of restaurants for world cuisine, art galleries, theatres and lovely riverside walks. Beyond Inverness lies the Great Glen in which Loch Ness is held - one of Scotland's most impressive and deepest lochs. Sail down the loch on one of the pleasure cruises or, for the more energetic, hire a Canadian canoe!
Kilmorack Cottage, also available for rental through LHH, is situated to the rear of Kilmorack House, and although it is taken as additional accommodation for large parties in the house, it can also be rented on its own. There is a separate access to each property and the cottage has its own private garden.
