Ayrshire, South West Scotland, and Scottish Borders

Scottish Borders: The Borders of Scotland encompass large tracts of moorland and hills with sparsely scattered villages. It also encompasses some of the most popular and attractive market towns, such as Peebles, and has easy access to Edinburgh. The Cheviot Hills in the south border onto the hills of northern England and offer the walker or cyclist peace and tranquillity.

There are excellent fishing rivers, such as the Esk and the Tweed, for salmon fishing, and lochs for trout fishing. This is an area with a fascinating history, having been fought over so many times, and even to this day there is debate as to the 'real' boundary between England and Scotland.

Our most popular large group self catering holiday houses are to be found in this area being Gateshaw House, Branxholm Park House, Greenhill Lodge and Westerkirk Mains. All four are proving to be popular for large family holidays and all are pet friendly! Self catering is an option here but also catering or a resident cook can be arranged to further enhance your stay and allowing you to relax fully without the need to shop and cook! Does self catering get better than this!

Dumfries and Galloway to the west is much more low-lying, green and fertile. In places on the Solway Firth the climate has more in common with Cornwall than Scotland, and gardens abound displaying many plants which do not grow even in northern England. With a self caterting cottage for 4 and a castle for 22 we offer holiday accommodation for large groups and couples.

From the shores of the Solway, the land rises and empties as you go up into the Galloway Forest - few villages here but a huge playground for walkers, birdwatchers, cyclists and mountain bikers. Galloway Forest Park is the only designated International Dark Skies Park due to the exceptional starry skies.

Mull of Galloway - this is a beautiful, remote and secluded corner of Scotland. Rich in wildlife; unspoilt and with magnificent beaches and gardens. A little known area full of visitor attractions just waiting to be enjoyed. Seabank is a fine self catering holiday cottage for 8 people with views over the beach and bay - a traditional Victorian Villa with log fires and a large garden.
